Generally speaking, this was a decent story on the uses of testosterone in cardiac failure. While the evidence presented is clear, it would have been nice to have seen both the benefits and harms quantified. A major drawback of the story centers around the lack of background information provided about this study (i.e. what were the funding sources of this study? who was involved and what are their potential COI?). It is possible that there is a testosterone manufacturer behind this research and such information would be valuable to for readers. That being said, this story is balanced and is characterized by a distinct lack of exaggeration. Most statements are well crafted so as not to develop an overly rosy impression of the treatment. As it concludes: "the case for testosterone therapy in heart failure is far from proven," Amen.
