Researchers in Canada and the United States said Thursday that people with Type 2 diabetes taking oral medications have seen dramatic improvements after switching to a low-fat, vegan diet.
Dr. David Jenkins, who holds the Canada research chair in nutrition and metabolism at the University of Toronto, helped plan the study. He said the findings could pave the way for new ways of treating the disease....

Considering the prevalence of Type 2 diabetes, this potentially could turn to a very interesting story if it provided some essential information such as type of the study, type and cost of the vegan diet in more details, concomitant anti-diabetic medication in each group and quantitative data on the benefits and harms of this intervention compared to the traditional diabetes regimen. While it is unfortunate that this story lacks much needed detail, and stands as an interesting but subjective description of a clinical trial, it is good to see such research being done. .
